  1. It’s so easy to get caught up in the ‘shoulds’ and compare ourselves to someone else’s yardstick. And though I’m a huge fan of social media (I wouldn’t have found my way here otherwise) I feel that it can at times exacerbate this issue.

  2. Thanks for commenting. Yes. I hear you. Social media puts us into direct contact with billions of people doing so many things which absolutely stimulates our shoulds! We just have to remember that we are each the only ones who can do the things we do ;-).

  3. Hi Jill. I happened to stumble across your blog and I’m happy I did. I am new to this blogging game and I’m trying to learn as much as I can while connecting with others. I like your ideas. Anything to help me think a little better and learn a little more is a huge plus in my day. That’s what life is all about.

  4. Hi Jill – Wow, what a treasure this teaching is! It feels so true to me… I’m in the middle of your book “The Myth of Doing,” which I luckily found in a late night search. I’ve heard of the Alexander technique but never exactly understood it. Thank you for your rigor, your generosity in sharing this teaching, & your writing — which I find to be lucid & challenging.

    1. Hi Max, I am so pleased that this work speaks to you! Thank you so much for letting me know. I wanted to mention that as I hopefully make clear in the book, this work is not about the Alexander Technique as much as a result of my assimilation of it with eastern and western philosophies, etc. However, I certainly do present aspects of it that may be what you are referring to. I am also available to converse with you if you are interested via email. You can find my email address on the Welcome page of this blog. Again thank you so much for your feedback, it means so much!

    2. Hi Max, I also wanted to mention that my first book, Body Over Mind, which is also short like the one you are reading, really introduces how I came to integrate The Alexander Technique with other awareness practices and came to the conclusions I have about choice.
